The Second Langkawi Writers’ Festival September 1-4 2023

Look what just arrived from UK, hot off the presses! Emporium will soon be available to purchase on its worldwide. release October 23, 2023. As I write, copies are even now winging their way across the world.

Emporium continues the tale begun in the previous novels Dragon and Pearl, following the lives of Captain Francis Light and his wife, Martinha Rozells. The third volume Emporium takes place during the tumultuous early years of the British settlement in Penang. Expect adventures aplenty: intrigue, betrayals, heartbreak, romance, war – and a fresh look at events from the perspective of the Peoples of the Straits themselves, not the least its women.

Special for Malaysian-based readers:

I will be launching ‘Emporium’ at the Langkawi Writers’ Festival (1-4 September 2023) - more about that below. A limited number of early copies (signed, of course!) will be available to purchase at the festival bookshop ahead of the official release. If you are spending your Merdeka weekend in beautiful Langkawi, and can bear to drag yourself away from the glorious beaches, why not pop over to meet me and a lot of other local authors?

Langbuku Festival Penulis (Kedua) will be held at the Auditorium Mahsuri Langkawi over the Merdeka weekend this year. Following on from its successful inaugural event in 2022, which featured notable locally-based author Karina Robles Bahrin (The Accidental Malay), this innovative showcase for Malaysian and regional authors, will include Rose Gan (Penang Chronicles Trilogy) and Dr. Lee Su Kin (Kebaya Tales, Sarong Secrets, Manglish etc) amongst others.

As soon as the full programme is available, I will post an update here on the blog to keep you informed about when and where.

Watch this space!
